Description
This is an 18″ x 24″ vertical landscape of the famous Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry Monument at Presque Isle State Park in Erie Pa. See his name for details of his heroism in building a fleet of ships to defeat Britain in the Battle of Lake Erie. The vertical white obelisk is detailed, but the beautiful cottonwood trees are my favorite in this photo, with the bark in many colors. The shadows are nicely done across the foreground grasses, benches are shown, and lots of foliage on the leaves. This sketch was done on location, and photographed, then made into this painting. It is framed in a wood-like resin, smooth 3″ mahogany, maroon colored frame to bring out the colors in the tree bark. It is ready to hang, and greatly reduced in price to sell. This is great for all Erie, Pa history buffs, or admirers of Commodore Perry and the phrase, “Don’t Give Up The Ship”.
