Description

12 x 16 oil on canvas of Bay mare who had delivered a stillborn foal.  A few hours later, another mare on another farm died giving birth to a live foal.  So, they put these two together.  There is a beautiful, heartwarming but sad story that goes with this painting.  It happened in the Netherlands and was widely publicized.  I captured the sadness in the mare’s eyes, as she was a sweet horse in temperament, and knew her own foal had died, yet she took this little filly right in and both are thriving.  It is painted black on the sides.  They are both lying down in a stall with beautiful shades of pale greens and yellows in the hay.  There is no frame on this piece and can be hung just as it is, unframed.

This original was sold in June, 2018. I can still however, get you a canvas reproduction for a much lower price.  It will be stretched around on a gallery canvas, wired, and ready to hang, in the same size, or we can discuss other options.  Please just give me a call at 814-402-1346 or email me directly at jandmutegg@hotmail.com to discuss how I can get you this into your home.  It is very special and dear to my heart, especially for horse lovers.  Also, there are always artist quality paper prints for $25 plus tax, at $26.50 at any time, which can be mailed or delivered.
